 Austin Rock City Realty

Welcome Home Leasing

Laura J. Croteau, Owner/Broker

I moved to Austin in 1976, after growing up in Croton–on-Hudson, New York and spending time in Gainesville, Florida, then Boulder, Colorado.  I immediately fell in love with Austin and its incredibly vibrant music community.  My first job in Austin was at the legendary Armadillo World Headquarters, solidifying my involvement in the local music scene.

After graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in radio, television and film production, I started a record label, Rabid Cat Records, partnering with a long time friend. We produced and distributed local punk rock bands and booked some of their shows. I also played bass guitar in two bands.

In the mid 1980's, I got my real estate license and began my career working at JB Goodwin’s office on Anderson Lane.  Shortly after, I was recruited by Deanie Owens with Better Homes and Gardens.  After completing my first two years as an agent, I got my Brokers license and went into business first with a partner, Happy Homes Leasing, and then independently.

Along the way, I acquired a few rental properties of my own. I also was featured in an episode of the TLC reality series “FLIP THAT HOUSE”. According to my family, this is the most hilarious house flipping episode ever aired.

Now 35 years into my real estate career, I'm active in leasing, property management, and sales of residential property in the greater Austin area. Rather than specializing in a particular area, my focus is more on my clients - I go where they need me. Because I'm active in multiple aspects of real estate, I have a unique perspective on the market and its fluctuations.

I can help property owners decide when it's best to acquire more rentals or sell off rentals, prepare your property for the sales market, rehab newly acquired properties to get them ready to be rented, or transition our tenants into first time buyers!

When I’m not working, or traveling to a new exotic destination, you might find me enjoying some time at Deep Eddy, Barton Springs, or one of the beautiful swimming holes surrounding Austin; making roller derby signs or sitting in the VIP section with some friends at a TXRD banked track roller derby bout, gardening in my wildlife habitat yard, or at one of our awesome off-leash dog parks with my 5 hooligan hounds!
